Delicious detox juices and summer smoothies!

Detox juices and smoothies are perfect if you want to build a healthier mind and body, plus get in shape for summer. Juices extract the liquid content from fruit and vegetables, whereas smoothies blend all the ingredients together. And with the current Nutribullet craze, they’re easier than ever to make. So, which ones are the best?

Here are 3 of my favourite healthy smoothie recipes that taste delicious (one even has a hint of chocolate!) and I hope will inspire you in the kitchen and help blend your way to a healthy, happy summer!

The Green Goddess

Loaded with antioxidants and vitamins, this smoothie helps repair damage to body tissues – including our skin. The addition of avocado injects skin-specific nutrients into the smoothie, such as vitamin E, A and zinc, which keeps skin looking radiant and clear.

Simply blend one and a half cups of spinach, one cup of unsweetened coconut water, one cup of frozen pineapple and a quarter of an avocado.

Mango Mayhem

The second of my delicious and healthy smoothie recipes is for Mango Mayhem, which is jam packed with your daily fix of vitamins A and C and is also full of fibre and incredibly tasty. It is the perfect drink for a healthy sweet fix – nice and refreshing.

Combine one peeled mango, five de-stemmed strawberries (frozen), one cup of diced pineapple and half a cup of spinach, top with water and blend.


The Chocolate Beetroot or Chocobeet smoothie is healthy and you don’t have to completely abandon your chocolate cravings to drink it! This delicious smoothie is filled with goodness as beetroots are full of iron and folate so can help to reduce blood pressure.

It includes; half a cup of peeled, chopped raw beet, one banana, a large handful of strawberries, half a cup of almond milk and one teaspoon of unsweetened cocoa powder. Feel free to substitute the strawberries for blueberries or raspberries if you prefer.

Top smoothie tips!

Add ice to any of the smoothies to create further thickness and feel free to switch almond milk to coconut milk, if you prefer.
