An Italian classic, this cheap recipe is super easy to make, packed with vegetables and low in calories. Perfect topped with torn chicken or beef and served with a warm chunk of wholemeal bread.

This flavoursome, healthy soup is easy to make and the lowest of the bunch in calories, weighing in at just 70 per cup. For a bit of a treat, melt a slice of Swiss cheese onto your portion and serve with crusty French baguette.

I thought I’d end with a bit of a twist. Not only is this Spanish soup jam-packed with vitamins and minerals, but it’s great if you want a break from hearty winter warmers. Amazing served with pitta bread and garnished with fresh basil.
